Finding Quiet Time for my Soul
Maybe you have been blessed to enjoy many welcomed quiet moments during this pandemic. If your home is generally loud, your only chance at experiencing a sliver of peace and quiet might have been that one time you sat in your car in the garage for 15 minutes after running errands. For some of us, too much quiet drives us crazy. And for others, well, they might sell a pinky toe to get more promised quiet time. When I think of quiet, I think of calm. I think of comfort and peace and stillness that is soothing to my soul. Quietness, especially when accompanied by a mind at ease can be glorious and delightful. But sadly, joy filled quiet moments are often hard to come by.
It is Just Too Much
Chaos, devastation, unrest, division, quarreling, anxiety – these are just a few fitting descriptors for these unprecedented times in which we currently live. We do not know what to expect anymore, so we try to take it day by day, doing the best we can with every potentially life changing decision we make. Some of us are feeling the stress of being home with kids all day for the first time in years. The outlets we were accompanied to – visiting friends, church, shopping, eating out, vacations – have been restricted and in some instances momentarily prohibited altogether. So our thoughts run wild. We succumb to overthinking. We imagine every possible, horrible scenario that could ruin our lives and livelihood, often to the point where we lose sleep and feel despair.
Friends, God is still at hand. He has not left us. He knows the beginning from the end, and though it may be near, it is not yet here. We must not give into fear. Everywhere we turn, fear is broadcasted. Its shouts are so loud and boastful, attempting to drown the quiet comfort of God’s nearness.

I will leave you with a prayer. A prayer for you to experience the beautiful sound of QUIET. Believing that God’s perfect love will cast out all fear and that your soul (mind, body, will, and emotions) will be quieted by HIS unending and never failing love. Embrace the quiet moments, listen for God’s voice singing over you. Therefore, let your soul rest and find perfect peace in the middle of the every storm that dares to come your way. Press in to hear and enjoy the beautiful sound of QUIET.
