NeverEnding Mercy

Every single morning the sun rises and every single night light turns to dark. Some may attribute these happenings to the universe, but I believe it is because of the faithfulness of God. God, who every single morning chooses to give new mercy to his children. This act of love is neverending just like the rising and falling of the sun.

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end.

Lamentations 3:22

Remembering

We have all been in situations that have seemed unbearable, situations that appeared to have no end or maybe the ending you imagined was truly abysmal. After you worked through a million different endings and another million responses in your mind, where did you ultimately have to draw the line? Some people never do and end up in a state of constant overthinking and worrying. Others get overwhelmed and totally abandon all care and concern in hopes that the situation or circumstance will just disappear. And then there are those who cry out in desperation to the Lord in hopes that He will hear them and answer them favorably.

Think about your younger years or even yesterday, if you are anything like me, you did/thought/said a few things that were not exactly pleasing to God. Maybe you are an angel and you were “perfect” yesterday, but no one is perfect all the time. What if you got the punishment you deserved for every single infraction you committed? Every lie, every bad thought, every sneaky thing you did – Ouch! It is scary to even think about where I would be if not for grace and mercy and redemption. What if mercy was only granted for one instance? Once you received mercy, you could never be granted it again. Imagine that.

Finding Mercy

Mercy is God’s way of showing his compassion towards us. He understands that we struggle, He knows that we will fall short of His standards, yet He chooses to love us and show us mercy and give us help in our time of need.

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4:16

We should run to God when we mess up. He is where our help comes from. Our loving father in heaven wants us to come to Him, where we will not be put to shame but instead we will be wrapped in His love. He desires to remind us who we are in Him, to empower us to live according to His will which brings peace to our lives Thank God his mercy is never-ending and it is always available to us. We need mercy. And we need it every single day. David prayed in Psalms 23 that “goodness and mercy would follow me all of the days of my life.” I pray the same.

Showing Mercy

We can’t just settle at being recipients of mercy. As beneficiaries of mercy, we must also make it our business to show mercy. Instead of harsh judgment which is abundant, mercy should reign.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

Matthew 5:7

Everyday we are given the opportunity to show mercy to someone who doesn’t deserve it. It could be a child, a spouse, a stranger, a celebrity, a boss, it could be anyone. When you are wronged, disrespected or dishonored, it is natural to resort to judgment but it is better to resort to love and mercy. Remember the golden rule? Treat others how you want to be treated. Be mindful of the mercies you have been granted and extend that same mercy to others. Never forget that God’s mercy towards you is neverending, it is new each morning.

Walk in love. in grace. in mercy.

Until next time…..enjoy your blessings!
